Abstract
After Dr. Nicoladoni in 1881, a lot of methods to correct the deformities of extremities due to ate effect of poliomyelitis have been introduced.
During the period, from January 1, 1961 to April 30, 1966, we have done clinical studies over and over again of the 143 operations on 103 patients who had been undergone tendon transference. They belonged to the in-patient with the deformity of foot owing to late effect of poliomyelitis at Severance Hospital and the Children¢¥s Rehabilitation Center.
Among 103 patients, 59 were men, 57% of total, age ranged from 2 to 22,and 88 cases were under the
age of 10.
Of the surgical operations on 103 patients, 143 tendons were transferred from 112 feet and 114 tendon transferences were carried out singly. which including 44 modified Jones operations and 29 operations were done with bony surgery.
Most patients with equino-valgus of the deformities of foot were 52, 42.48% and most with the claw toe of deformities of toes were 20, 54.05%.
Follow-up period ranged from 3 months to 5 years.
The evaluations for the surgery listed as follows
Good to excellent: 63 cases. 56.25
Fair 28 // 25.00
